Tihar Authorities Blocking Meeting Between Arvind Kejriwal and His Wife, Claims AAP

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s wife, Sunita Kejriwal, won’t be able to meet him in Tihar jail as planned on Monday. The jail authorities have denied permission for her visit, as per claims by Mr. Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party.

It’s been reported that the Tihar Jail administration has mentioned the upcoming visit of Delhi Minister Atishi, scheduled to meet the Chief Minister on Monday.

Additionally, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is set to visit him on Tuesday.

Sources mentioned that according to the rules in the jail, only two individuals are allowed to visit an inmate at a time.

On April 15, when Mr. Mann visited Mr. Kejriwal at Tihar Jail, he was accompanied by AAP’s Organization General Secretary, Sandeep Pathak.

Sources in Tihar Jail have indicated that Sunita Kejriwal may be permitted to meet Mr. Kejriwal after Tuesday following discussions with Atishi and Bhagwant Mann.

According to jail regulations, only two visits are allowed per week. Therefore, if Atishi meets Arvind Kejriwal on Monday and Bhagwant Mann meets him on Tuesday, no other meetings with Arvind Kejriwal can take place this week.

It seems that Sunita Kejriwal may only be permitted to visit him next week. Mr. Kejriwal has been in jail since April 1st. He was taken into custody on March 21st in relation to the Delhi liquor policy case.

During his time in Tihar Jail, there was a significant controversy surrounding Arvind Kejriwal’s diabetes and the medication he required. The Chief Minister and his party claimed that the authorities had not provided him with his necessary medication since his arrest. Additionally, the Enforcement Directorate accused Mr. Kejriwal of consuming food unsuitable for diabetics.

Meanwhile, Sunita Kejriwal, his wife, organized her first-ever roadshow in Delhi on Saturday to support the Aam Aadmi Party’s candidate in the East Delhi constituency for the upcoming Lok Sabha election. The roadshow attracted a large crowd and aimed to garner support for the AAP, which is competing in four out of Delhi’s seven parliamentary constituencies. The remaining three will be contested by the Congress party.

In Mr. Kejriwal’s absence, she is set to lead the party’s campaign in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, and Gujarat.
