While “Heeramandi” shares similarities with films like “Gangubai Kathiawadi,” “Mandi,” “Kalank,” and “Devdas,” the new series takes raw emotions to a whole new level. It goes beyond the familiar themes of freedom, love, brothels, jealousy, and more.
Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, known for his exceptional skills in cinema, has recently launched an epic drama series called “Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar.” This series is now available for streaming on Netflix.
After a gap of 30 years since their superhit movie “1942: A Love Story,” Sanjay and Manisha Koirala are reuniting to work together. Their new series, “Heeramandi,” shares similarities with the genre of films made in 1994, but takes things to the next level by blending raw emotions with themes of freedom, love, brothels, jealousy, and more.
The upcoming series will provide a glimpse of films such as Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022), Mandi, Kalank, and Devdas, but with a more refined portrayal of actors. Notably, lead actors like Manisha Koirala as Mallika Jaan, Sonakshi Sinha playing Faradeen/Rehana, Richa Chadha as Lajjo, Sanjeeda Shaikh as Waheeda, Aditi Rao Hydari portraying Bibbo, and Sharmin Segal Mehta as Alamzeb will be featured in the series.
In addition, the series also features the comeback of Fardeen Khan as Wali Mohammed, along with notable performances by Jason Shah as Cartwright and Taha Shah as Tajdar.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali spent 14 years creating this series, which has garnered significant attention on online streaming platforms. Each episode has a runtime of around an hour to 50 minutes.
