Arvind Kejriwal Administered Insulin in Tihar Jail Amid High Blood Sugar Concerns:

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who has Type-2 Diabetes, received insulin in Tihar Jail when his blood sugar level shot up to 320. According to sources from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), this was the first time he was given insulin since his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21 in relation to a money laundering case linked to the Delhi liquor policy issue. This incident followed Kejriwal disputing the prison administration’s claim about his health the day before.

Tihar Jail speaking to India Today TV, on Monday evening, Arvind Kejriwal received two units of insulin after a doctor from AIIMS recommended it to the prison authorities. Previously, when he was not in jail, the AAP leader used to take 50 units of insulin daily.

On Monday, Kejriwal wrote a letter to the Tihar Superintendent stating that he urgently needed insulin because his blood sugar levels, as per his glucose meter readings, were in a “dangerous” range of 250 to 320.

He accused the jail administration of being dishonest about his health under political influence.Additionally, Kejriwal had a meeting with his wife Sunita at the prison premises on the same day.

Arvind Kejriwal, the AAP leader, received a 40 – minute consultation from doctors at AIIMS on April 20. They reassured him that he had no serious health concerns and advised him to keep taking his prescribed medications. The consultation was requested by Kejriwal’s wife and included a review of his Glucose Monitoring Sensor records, diet, and medications.

During the consultation, the doctors did not bring up the insulin issue, nor was it suggested by Kejriwal. However, AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj later claimed that since Kejriwal’s arrest, his blood sugar levels had spiked over 300 and he was not given insulin until an AIIMS specialist intervened after a court order. Bharadwaj suggested that there were conspiracies to harm Kejriwal, and blamed the BJP and the Central government for the situation.

The controversy surrounding the use of insulin intensified when the Enforcement Directorate claimed last week that Kejriwal had been deliberately consuming mangoes, aloo puri, and sweets every day to artificially elevate his blood sugar levels as a tactic to seek medical bail.In response, his lawyer refuted the accusations, stating that Kejriwal had only consumed mangoes on three occasions while in jail and had consumed aloo puri as part of his Navratra meal offering.
